Sean managed to last this far without any tears. He told himself there wouldn’t be tears for his face would grow hot and his glasses (yes! they were essential) would mist over and he’d be embarrassed, and that couldn’t happen – not today.
He’d come through the ceremony – no fluffing of words. He’d come through the banter – ribald or otherwise – of the reception. He’d come through the gift opening. He’d even come through the (essential it seemed) “just married” photograph.
But nothing could have prepared him for how he would feel, seeing that gold band on Viggo’s finger. Tears? A torrent.
