I lost count of the number of cups of cold coffee I’d tipped away, all in the name of passion.
“I can’t wake up without my coffee”, he’d say and so I’d pander to him, setting the contraption to work and making that dark, mellow stuff he liked. I must say I liked the smell and sort of came to associate it with him as I kissed him awake and told him to drink.
But of course the kisses turned to more, until hours later when he’d be awake all right, but there was always that cold cup of coffee . . .
