The leaves of the beech and linden faded to pale gold, swirling in the fitful gusts of the breeze. The Ranger wandered through the woods, eyes tracking a birch leaf, tumbling on the currents at the whim of the wind, dancing until it lit upon a more vibrant gold, hair moving gently as the man roamed.
He had taken off the mail, his surcoat loosened to reveal silken skin beneath, his leaf-green eyes full of wonderment. Thus Aragorn, son of Arathorn, saw Boromir of Gondor for the second time.
Their eyes met and Aragorn felt something give way within him.
